An issue that is not supposed to be an issue - but when people talk based on OPINIONS and/or PERSONAL AGENDA or perhaps CONFUSED/MISLED by opinions of others' (without checking by themselves), things become so CONVOLUTED - (also related: take lessons from PERISTIWA HUDAIBIYYAH).
First, let's establish the base :
Al-Ahzab | 36
It is not for a MU'MININ or a MU'MINATIN, WHEN ALLAH AND HIS RASUL HAVE DECIDED A MATTER, THAT THEY SHOULD [thereafter] HAVE ANY CHOICE ABOUT THEIR AFFAIR. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Rasul has certainly strayed into clear error.
An-Nisa' | 59
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Rasul and those in authority among you. AND IF YOU DISAGREE OVER ANYTHING, REFER IT TO ALLAH AND THE RASUL, IF YOU BELIEVE IN ALLAH AND THE LAST DAY. That is the best [way] and best in result.
The responsibility on US?
Al-Hujurat | 6
O those who have believed! If a FAASIQUN comes to you with important news, VERIFY IT, lest you should harm people in ignorance [out of haste in belief and making decision], and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done.
And HADITH: "Thalabul 'ilmi faridhatun 'ala kulli muslimin wa muslimatin".
And who are the FAASIQUUN? Among other traits are;
Al-Maa'idah | 47
And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein. And WHOEVER DOES NOT JUDGE BY WHAT ALLAH HAS REVEALED - THEN IT IS THOSE WHO ARE THE 'FAASIQUUN'.
So what does the QURAN says on this 'issue which is not supposed to be an issue'? Among others are;
Aali-Imraan | 64
Say : "O people of the Books (Jews and Christians): Come to a WORD that is SAWA (sawa = just,similar,equal,equivalent etc) between us and you, that we worship none but ALLAH, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as LORDs (RABB/TUHAN) besides ALLAH. Then, if they turn away, say: "Bear witness that we are Muslims".
Al-Haj | 40
[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished MONASTERIES, CHURCHES, SYNAGOGUES, AND MOSQUES IN WHICH THE NAME OF ALLAH IS MENTIONED. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Luqman | 23
And if you asked them (the kaafiruun), "Who created the heavens and earth?" they would surely say, " ALLAH ." Say, "[All] praise is [due] to ALLAH"; but most of them do not know.
Az-Zumar | 3
Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to ALLAH in position." Indeed, ALLAH will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, ALLAH does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.
Now that you have it, go and verify what i posted here - then think!!! - we are supposed to use our heads/brains/intelligent given by ALLAH once the Aayats/Signs/Guidance have been given to us.
Me speak: Don't make an issue out of a non-issue. If our so-called muslim youths can be misled by the usage of the name of ALLAH- IT IS BECAUSE WE DO NOT DO OUR JOB!!! EDUCATION and DAA'WAH in a systemic and systematic manner etc etc (a different topic by itself) - tanya diri sendirilah, how many of us actually take the constant effort of 'understanding the Quran' itself so we can use it as a GUIDE in living our lives?
BARRING others from things that ALLAH himself DO NOT MAKE HARAAM - will only be an even bigger EXCUSE for us not to DO OUR JOB. And the MUSLIM UMMAH itself becomes the FITNAH to this DEEN/RELIGION of ALLAH (which is also as per another Ayat of Quran) when we are supposed to be the LIVING PROOF that there is no ILAH except ALLAH and MOHAMMAD is the RASUL of ALLAH (the SYAHADAH).
Wa ALLAHu a'lam bissawab.
