Can't seem to be able to get away from all these discussions about PPSMI thingy.....waduh!
I remember 1 of my seniors answered his teacher, when asked why he didn't like conversing in English:
".....becoz English sounds sooo STICKY, err....like SPERM..."
My quick take:
Let's rewind a bit.
A few years ago gomen kata our students are weak in english, and weak in maths and weak in sciences.
So they came up with a solution......., teach maths and sciences in english!?!?!?!
Correct observation of problems...., but is it the right SOLUTION?
(Another classic example of what I call 'coffee-shop management')
And now the whole nation is embroiled in the debate about why english is important, why maths is important, and why sciences is important.............?!?!?!?!?!?! Duh....
Cónnah's Quay, Wales 1986:
2 classes of melayu students (who studied maths in bahasa melayu kat Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan) sat for A Level Maths.
Results - every single one scored A's so much so that all the mat sallehs in other classes (or the whole college) said their teachers were bluffing when told the story. Furthermore all these melayu students are on 'express A-Level program' (1-year instead of the normal 2-year A-Level program)
I know that as a fact, I was one of them!
Duh.................

Very interesting indeed.Don`t you pity our students(or our kids for that matter).....Of course they can if they try like all of us know...the very slogan `Malaysia Boleh`
Exactly, because 'pity our kids', in other words, the future generation of this country of ours, that we should 'kick-out' all the incompetent policy makers of the country.
The hasty nature of coming out of a policy without proper analysis, test and measure, etc has not only gambled the future of our kids but also wasted billions of ringgits of our money (taxpayers).
And thus, the reason for my full support for '916'. Get a new management team and CEO for the country!
